Finding Joy: Seeing God in the Holidays
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Finding Joy in the holidays might seem cliche, but it goes deeper than that.
The holidays are “supposed” to be joyful. Or at least that’s what everyone says. But for many families like ours, joy doesn’t always come wrapped in lights, music, and memories. Sometimes it feels buried under overstimulation, unpredictable days, disrupted routines, medical needs, or the pressure to create magic when we’re barely holding everything together.
We prep our kids with social stories, visual schedules, and plans A–Z… but even then, the smallest change can flip excitement into overwhelm in a heartbeat. We do everything we can to make this season meaningful, but the reality is that it often means more work, more advocating, and more emotional labor on us as moms.
Yes, the worth is absolutely evident in our children — their joy, their wonder, their presence is precious. But the exhaustion we carry can make it hard to truly feel the joy that everyone else seems to talk about so easily.
So this month, we’re shifting our focus. We’re looking at what Biblical joy really means. The deep, steady, fruit-of-the-Spirit kind of joy that you can experience in every season, even the hard ones. Joy that doesn’t depend on perfection, predictability, or peaceful days.
Joy that can live in your real life, not just the holiday version of it.
Let’s spend this month rediscovering that together.
