December Reflection

December Reflection: Choosing Joy When It Feels Impossible

December is here and if you’re anything like me, this month brings a strange mix of excitement, pressure, and “oh Lord, please let this go smoothly.”

You’re carrying a lot into this month.

  • Your child’s needs don’t magically calm down because the calendar says it’s the holidays.
  • Schedules get messy. Sensory needs get louder.
  • Routines get disrupted.
  • Expectations (yours and everyone else’s) get bigger.

And in the middle of all of that… you’re still supposed to “feel joyful,” right?

But. Joy isn’t something you chase this month.
It’s something that grows in you exactly where you are.

It doesn’t need perfect circumstances, perfect kids, or a even a perfect holiday season.

It just needs a willing, open, exhausted-but-still-showing-up heart.
Your heart.

So as you begin this December, reflect long enough to ask yourself:

Where is my joy right now?
What has been weighing on me?
A
re there tiny moments have been lifting me?
What do I actually want from God this month?
And where do I need Him to meet me?

Let December be a month where you don’t fake joy. You find it.
In the quiet moments, the unexpected breakthroughs.
In the strength you didn’t know you had and the nearness of God when everything feels too loud.

Here’s your prayer as you step into this month:

“Lord, I’m entering December with open hands.
Grow real joy in me. The kind that holds steady even when life feels messy.
Meet me in the places that feel hard, and surprise me with Your peace.”

This month isn’t about perfection.
It’s about presence. God’s and yours.

He’s already here.
And you’re not walking into this month alone.

I hope you find joy in this season. Until next time…

Stay Mighty,
